James Matthew Barry (1860 - 1937) was a Scottish playwright and novelist best known for his fairy tale about Peter Pan, a boy who chose never to grow up.
Peter Pan lives on the island of Netinebudet, inhabited by Indians, mermaids and robber pirates. Only children can get to this island, the road is closed for adults. And then one day Wendy, John and Michael step onto the land of a magical island. While away the days in this wonderful place with Peter Pan is fun and good, but time goes by, and the guys do not even think about returning home to mom and dad. The longer the guys are on the island, the closer trouble creeps up... Oh, stupid children, it would be better if they stayed at home!
The fairy tale was translated into different languages, staged in theaters and filmed. Our book presents a classic translation by Irina Tokmakova, laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation for works for children and youth.
