After exposing an international organization of drug traffickers, Tintin enjoys a vacation in the palace of the Maharaja Rawajputala, whose only son he wrested from the clutches of the gang leader, who disappeared at the bottom of a mountain gorge. Read the details of this story in Pharaoh's Cigars. A stranger arrives in India to Tintin with a message of extreme importance. Alas, he is immediately struck by an arrow poisoned with "poison-that-deprives-of-reason"! The poor man manages to say that Tintin is very much needed in Shanghai, and utter only one name: Mitsuhirato. Without delay, Tintin goes to China, where he meets members of the secret society "Sons of the Dragon", whose goal is to fight opium. What they don't know yet is that drug dealers will stop at nothing to take Tintin out of the game. The Japanese occupation authorities capture a reporter and sentence him to death on false charges of espionage. Chinese friends organize his escape, and later Tintin finds a cipher for the intruders' radio messages. His opponent is very strong, and Tintin comes up with a cunning combination to put an end to the criminal activities of the syndicate. His investigation leads him to Shanghai's Blue Lotus opium den...
The Adventures of Tintin is a world-famous comic book series by the Belgian artist Georges Remy, who worked under the pseudonym Hergé. Investigating mysterious incidents, the young reporter Tintin finds himself in the "hot spots" of the planet, where important events take place. Hergé's stories are full of secrets, mysteries and unexpected twists. Danger lurks at every step of his hero. But thanks to ingenuity, courage and resourcefulness, Tintin emerges victorious from any troubles. And no matter what happens, his faithful friend is always nearby - the snow-white fox terrier Milu.
The Blue Lotus comic was published in 1936 and became the fifth adventure of Tintin. In this album, Hergé set out to depict the country where the action takes place as accurately as possible, and in the following volumes of the series he tried to adhere to the same principle. To make it clearer to the reader who or what is behind some events, characters, objects, habits and features of the heroes, we decided to slightly open the door to Hergé's creative laboratory. For each volume, we have compiled detailed comments, linking them to a specific comic page and frame, for example, 1-2 means page 1, frame 2.
