Summer is the second book in the "About big and small" series. The book includes three fairy tales: "The Story of Transformations", "The Big Wash" and "About Three Secrets".
In the first story, Bo the elephant becomes small, the size of a mouse, and looks at the world through the eyes of his friend Felix. He begins to notice what he had not paid attention to before, and the world opens up to him from an amazing side. It turns out that the stamens of flowers look like drumsticks, and the anthill is a very complex structure. A baby elephant swims across a puddle on a raft, flies over a river and a forest on the wing of Aunt Barbara, Felix's familiar crow. Having become big again, he rejoices at what happened to him, but firmly decides for himself: "It's good that everything in the world is exactly the way it is."
After the Day of Miraculous Transformations comes the Day of the Big Wash. Bo and Felix start washing and whip up so much snow-white foam that it covers the whole garden, and then the whole city. Looking out into the street, the residents decide that it's snowing. Snow at the height of summer - isn't it a miracle? Felix calls the sprinkler to wash off the foam. So, together with the clothes, the friends washed the whole street at the same time! And passers-by rejoice at the cleanliness, the sun and the summer day.
In a beautiful season of golden balls and ripe apples, Bo confesses to Felix that he has a secret. Felix wants to see her, but on the way to the park where Bo's secret is hidden, they meet a mole. It turns out that the mole has a secret. Then they see a raccoon who also has a secret. And these secrets are one better than the other. And to see them, you just need to stop and look.
This book was invented and painted by the artist Alena Chernaya. First came the stories she told her little daughter and other children. The heroes of these stories never get bored, and miracles happen to them in the most ordinary places: at home, on the street, in the park. Then came the idea for a book and the illustrations. In 2019, the series "About Big and Small" won the "Image of a Book" competition in the "Author's Book" nomination.
