In the distant country of Ngumbazania lived a lion named Eli. For a long time he was the storm of the savannah and the best piece always got to him. But the years took their toll, the lion grew old and now could only be content with leftovers in the company of vultures. Fussy, sloppy scavengers irritated Eli terribly. He never imagined that one day he would call them his friends. A fairy tale that life ceases to be dreary and lonely if there are friends nearby who are ready to help in difficult times.
This fairy tale was composed and drawn by Bill Peet (1915-2002), the famous American artist, screenwriter and writer, whose books have been published in different languages of the world for more than half a century. Before becoming a writer, Bill Peet worked for many years as an animator at the Walt Disney Studios and was involved in the creation of legendary feature films such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and many others.
