Spring is the first book in the series "About big and small". The book includes two fairy tales: "Birthday that went according to plan" and "Little Seed's Big Journey".

In the first story, the dreamy baby elephant Bo meets the nimble mouse Felix on the street, and both realize that they want to be friends. And how to become friends? For example, eat a pood of salt together or share joy in half. The baby elephant has a birthday soon, and Felix decides to throw a party for Bo. They make a plan: concert, cake, balloons, surprise! The birthday goes according to plan, and the elephant Bo makes an important discovery for himself: the joy does not become less, it becomes more, much more, if you share it with someone.

A gust of spring wind brings Felix into Bo's house. The mouse takes out a small seed from his pocket. It's time to think about the harvest! What will grow from this seed is unknown. Felix wants it to be a round head of cheese. And Bo dreams that it was a flower - big and beautiful. They plant a seed in the city park, water it, watch it hatch and reach for the sun, save it from the encroachments of the goat Buryan and from the summer drought. First, Bo rejoices at a huge flower, then Felix rejoices at a round fruit. And then the whole city rejoices in the harvest. It turned out that the baby elephant and the mouse grew a huge pumpkin, which was enough to feed everyone!

This book was invented and painted by the artist Alena Chernaya. First came the stories she told her little daughter and other children. The heroes of these stories never get bored, and miracles happen to them in the most ordinary places: at home, on the street, in the park. Then came the idea for a book and the illustrations. In 2019, the series "About Big and Small" won the "Image of a Book" competition in the "Author's Book" nomination.
