A valuable exhibit was stolen from the Ethnographic Museum - a wooden idol of the Arumbaya tribe. However, the statuette is found in its place the next day. Tintin is sure that the fake was returned to the museum. The original had a piece missing from its ear, but the returned god had a whole ear. Tintin boards a steamer bound for South America. A couple of gangsters who are hunting for the figurine lure him ashore, and Tintin finds himself in a whirlpool of revolutionary events. Tintin only narrowly escapes execution, and he flees into the jungle, where the ferocious arumbaya live. Tintin understands that the clue must be sought there. "Broken Ear" was published in 1937 and became the sixth adventure of Tintin and his faithful friend, the snow-white fox terrier Milu. Its author is the Belgian artist Georges Remy, who worked under the pseudonym Erzhe.
