Til Ulenspiegel

$45.00
The famous novel by the Belgian writer Charles de Coster about the adventures of the cunning merry fellow Till Ulenspiegel not only glorified its author, but also entered the golden fund of world literature. The novel reflects the events that took place in the 16th century, when the proud Flanders was under the rule of Spain and suffered from the cruelty of the Catholic Inquisition.
Young Til Ulenspiegel is a joker and prankster, but with a kind heart and a noble soul. He was born in the family of the coal miner Klaas in the same year as the future Spanish king Philip II, a heartless tyrant. Til's parents lived peacefully and honestly worked, but one day a terrible misfortune came to their house - and the young man decided to fight for his homeland, save it from the yoke of the Spaniards. Together with his faithful friend Lamme Gudzak, he sets off to wander around Flanders and eventually becomes a skilled warrior, but does not lose his nobility and wit. The mocker Ulenspiegel fights the Spanish invaders, punishes the swaggering nobles, rescues captives, takes part in naval battles, and even becomes the captain of a ship.
Retelling from fr. for children N. A. Zabolotsky.
The book is illustrated with realistic graphic works by Yuri Bogachev.
