Book. Queen Margo. A. Dumas. Queen Margot is one of the most famous novels by Alexandre Dumas, it is as read and loved around the world as The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo. The action of the novel takes place at the end of the 16th century, during the religious wars between Protestants (Huguenots) and Catholics. In order to restore peace, the French princess, the Catholic Marguerite de Valois, is given in marriage to Henry of Navarre, the leader of the Huguenots, despite her love affair with the Duke of Guise. Further events unfold rapidly, as is typical of the books of Alexandre Dumas: exciting adventures, palace intrigues, love dramas, as well as the bloody massacre of Bartholomew's Night, perhaps the most exciting description of this fateful event in all world literature.
This edition reproduces a complete set of illustrations for the novel "Queen Margot" by the outstanding Czech artist Stanislav Gudecek (1872-1947).
